So anxious#
by Melody Brooke, MA, Conflict Coach, Motivational Speaker

After reading Rick Belden's Blog (entry entitled "Fused at the wound"), I was amazed at the way it resonated in me.  I will quote a small piece:

"So anxious to leave

So anxious to be left

So anxious to be right

So anxious to be hurt

So anxious to be disappointed

So anxious to be alone again"

http://blog.rickbelden.com/

It is truly what most of us want... most of us that HAVE BEEN ABUSED want anyway, to be hurt and be alone again, but also to be the 'righteous right' person in the arguement.  Intimacy is a great fear of ours and that fear rides our back like the proverbial monkey.  Hopefullly in time we can grow and be part of life again and not look for that pain that we always see around the corner...ah, but my history makes me bring up the old saying, 'If wishes were horses, then we would all ride.'  Here is wishing that life will change.

Thank you, Laura Lee, for commenting on my poem "fused at the wound". I would say, based on the many responses I've received to this piece, that you're correct: the experience of feeling the need to be left, to be 'wronged' yet again, seems to be all too common among folks who've been abused as children. Somehow there's a perception of safety in expecting, almost impatiently, the same old outcome. I think that acknowledging those feelings is an important first step in moving toward something new and different.
